Who is the Mureno suitable for?

The stone is aimed at garden owners as well as garden and landscape designers who build straight walls, seating walls or borders with a modern design language; the same stone is also available in shell limestone as a lighter color.

• Seating walls on terraces and in the garden
• Separation, delimitation, and edging of planting areas
• Terrain terracing
• Visual and noise protection
• Base for brick seating and outdoor furniture
• Set stones in a half-bond pattern with a 3–5 mm joint; bonding is recommended.
• Foundation with frost protection layer, approximately 20 cm of lean concrete and mortar leveling compound
• No road salt or acidic cleaners on the coating.

Planning and building a wall

According to Diephaus, the foundation depends on the soil conditions, wall height and the slope of the wall.

Foundation and offset

Diephaus specifies an excavation depth of 50 to 80 cm, 10 cm wider on both sides than the wall, 30 to 60 cm of frost protection, approximately 20 cm of lean concrete, and 5 to 10 cm of mortar leveling. The stones are laid in a half-bond pattern with a 3–5 mm joint and bonded together.

Quantity required

With a length of 40 cm and a height of 14 cm, this equates to approximately 18 stones per m² of visible surface without joints.

Care and limits

Mix stones from several packages to achieve a balanced color pattern. According to Diephaus, for higher slope stabilization projects or freestanding walls, further structural engineering measures, including static calculations, are necessary; you can find more stones in the Diephaus overview .
